How to Use Gemini Omni: 10 AI Video Effects (Full Guide)
How to use Gemini Omni to turn one clip into Hollywood-level video. The 10 effects from my video, easiest to hardest, with the exact copy-paste prompts.
I gave Gemini Omni one 10-second clip of myself and got back fireballs, four seasons, a glass phone, and a parrot landing on my finger. Same me, same movement, every time. I just typed what I wanted changed.
That is what makes Gemini Omni different. Most AI video tools build a brand-new clip from a text prompt. Gemini Omni takes video you already filmed and rebuilds the shot around you, while keeping your face, your motion, and the physics intact. Google calls it an "any-to-video" model. I tested it for two weeks, and below is exactly how to use Gemini Omni, the 10 effects I kept reusing, and the copy-paste prompt for each one.
What Gemini Omni actually is#
Omni is Google's new video model, and people are calling it the Nano Banana of AI video for a reason. You hand it a clip, an image, or just a sentence, and you edit it by talking to it. Type "make it night," then "add rain," then "push in on my face," and it keeps refining the same shot across the conversation, like texting an editor.
Three things make it stick:
- It keeps you consistent. Your face, outfit, and movement stay locked while the world around you changes. This is the part older tools always broke.
- It respects physics. Water splashes the right way, fabric moves when you move, a thrown object keeps its arc.
- It generates the sound too. Ask for a whoosh or a boom timed to an impact and it syncs the audio in the same pass.
The honest limits: clips cap around 10 seconds and output is about 720p right now. It is also cheaper to run than Seedance 2, which matters when you are generating a lot. If you want the deeper comparison, I broke down how Seedance 2 handles product commercials in a separate post.
The one prompt formula#
Almost every good Omni result uses the same sentence shape. Learn this and every prompt below makes sense.
Keep [the person, motion, camera, pose, and expression] exactly the same.
Only change [the one thing you want]. Match it to the scene with realistic
lighting, shadows, reflections, and physics.
Constraint first, change second. You tell it what to protect, then what to swap. When you skip the "keep this the same" part, Omni gets creative and changes your face or your movement, which is the one thing you do not want. I go deeper on the do's and don'ts, plus reference-image rules, in my breakdown of the 20 Gemini Omni prompts.
How to access Gemini Omni#
You can run Omni free inside the Gemini app. It works, but it caps you after a few generations, which is useless when you want to make 20 or 30 clips in a row. So I run it inside Artlist instead. Same underlying Google model, but you do not get locked out, you also get the four one-click Apps, and you get Seedance 2, Nano Banana, Kling, plus licensed music and stock in the same place. Open the AI Toolkit, and under video you will find Gemini Omni Flash. If you have used Artlist for unlimited generations before, this slots right into the same no-credit-limit workflow I use.
The 10 effects, easiest to hardest#
I ordered these by how much the model has to invent. Level 1 needs no footage at all. Level 10 is the hardest thing in the guide.
Level 1: Video from one sentence#
Warm up with plain text-to-video so you can feel the model. No input, no reference.
Make a 3D cartoon of a golden retriever surfing a giant wave, Pixar style.
Ask for the sound in the same prompt. Watching it generate synced audio on the first try is the moment most people get it.
Level 2: Object swap#
Your first real edit. Change one object, leave everything else alone. This is where you learn the formula, because you can see instantly whether it obeyed you.
Keep my hand and the shot the same. Turn the apple I'm holding into an orange.
Once the orange works, try a crystal apple, a solid gold apple, or a tiny glowing planet. Same prompt, one word changed. The diamond version, with the light refracting into my hand, was one of the most impressive results in the whole video.
Level 3: Environment swap#
Same you, brand-new world. The most-proven Omni effect there is.
Keep me and my movement the same. Change the background to a neon Tokyo street at night.
Pick a location with strong, obvious light. The bigger the light change, the bigger the wow.
Level 4: Four seasons in one take#
Level 3 changed the world once. This changes it four times, in order, inside one continuous shot, while you stay locked.
Keep me the same. Put me in a nature environment and hyperlapse the background through all four seasons while I talk.
Naming it a hyperlapse of one consistent environment is what makes the model hold a single location and move time through it instead of cutting between four places.
Level 5: Turn it to glass#
Here we cross into real visual effects. The model transforms an object while your mouth keeps moving in sync.
As I rotate this phone, turn it into glass. Keep everything else the same.
Rotate slowly. Fast rotation is where it breaks.
Level 6: The fireball golf shot#
Fast motion, a flight path, an impact, and synced sound, all without touching your body mechanics.
Keep my swing exactly the same. Turn the golf ball into a fireball with a glowing trail, and make it explode where it lands.
The clean version of this is a TV-broadcast shot tracer, which looks genuinely professional. You can also drop yourself onto the 18th at Pebble Beach with a crowd. Generate both.
Level 7: Drop in a creature#
Adding a living thing to real footage, with the right shadow, weight, and contact. This is the shot a VFX team charges thousands for.
Keep my hand and the background the same. Have a parrot fly in, land on my finger, then fly off.
Swap the parrot for a butterfly, a tiny dragon, or a swarm of something for comedy.
Level 8: Impossible camera moves#
The Hyper Zoom App pushes the camera into an object and keeps going past anything a lens could resolve. Do not do this on your face. Use an object.
Zoom infinitely into the apple in my hand.
An apple is my favorite because the inside is genuinely interesting. Reverse it to zoom out from the apple to the room, the city, then the solar system.
Level 9: 20 locations in 10 seconds#
Twenty generations that all have to agree with each other. Your face, outfit, and lighting stay identical across every one.
Same me, same outfit, same lighting. Hard-cut me through 20 famous locations in 10 seconds.
This is the 20 Locations App, and it makes the best thumbnail in the guide.
Level 10: Fireball juggling#
The hardest one. Three objects moving fast on separate arcs, each replaced, each throwing light back onto you, with every catch and throw landing on the original beat.
Keep my juggling exactly the same. Turn the three apples into balls of fire.
Try glowing orbs, crystal spheres, or flaming skulls. Generate it twice and keep the better one.
Bonus: the effect that makes money#
Not the hardest, but the one that actually pays. Put a product into a shot you already filmed and you have made an ad without a studio, a crew, or the product in your hand.
Replace this plain cup with the product in the photo. Match my hand and the lighting.
Hold a plain cup or can in your source clip so there is a matching shape to replace, and upload one clean product photo instead of describing the logo in words, because words garble packaging. Use a made-up brand, not a real one. For the ad angle and the exact shot description, I hand the concept to my AI Marketing Prompt GPT so I am not staring at a blank box.
The workflow that makes this repeatable#
Film a few plain clips once: you talking, you holding an object, your hand out, and one action shot. Split anything longer than 10 seconds into chunks. Start at Level 1 and work up. If a shot misses, reply with the fix instead of starting over, because that back-and-forth is the whole point of the model. Then reassemble your favorites and add music.
The unlock is not that AI can generate video. It is that it can now edit the footage you already have and keep you looking like you while it does it. Grab all 20 prompts and the formula breakdown, then try the harder ones the same afternoon.
