Zeely AI Review: I Made AI UGC Ads for 2 of My Own Businesses
Zeely AI review: I ran two of my own businesses through it, built static ads and AI UGC videos, and put them against creators I paid $100 per video.
I used to pay UGC creators $100 to $500 for a single video, wait weeks to get it back, and half the time the ad still flopped.
So for this Zeely AI review I tested it on the one thing I actually spend money on: UGC ads. I didn't use a demo brand. I ran two of my own businesses through it, built a stack of static ads and AI UGC videos for both, and then put the AI videos next to the three creators I paid $100 each to make ads for the same product.
Why volume matters more than one perfect ad#
Meta's algorithm gets better the more creatives you feed it. You give it a batch of variations, it tests them, and it finds your winners for you.
I learned this the hard way. I launched with three ad assets and couldn't figure out why nothing was performing. The answer was simple: I wasn't testing enough. That's the real problem with paying creators per video. You never have enough content to test.
So the promise I was testing is volume plus quality. Can one subscription get you tens of usable ads a week instead of two or three pricey ones a month?
The two businesses I tested it on#
I picked two products that look nothing alike, because I wanted to see if Zeely only works for one kind of brand.
- Sevenposts, my micro-SaaS that helps cafes and restaurants make product photos for social media. It's the one I advertise on Meta right now, and the one I used to hire UGC creators for. I wrote up how it made a week of Instagram posts for a gelato shop if you want the backstory.
- Rambleproof, a Mac app I built that turns talking into clean text. Different customer, different look, and it has real competitors running real ads right now.
Zeely sponsored the video and gave me early access to their newest tools, so I pushed it harder than a normal first look. Everything below is my own testing.
What Zeely actually is#
Zeely is an AI marketing platform for ads. You give it your brand and it generates static ads and UGC-style videos using the ad structures real brands already run. Then it can launch and track the campaigns in one place, so you don't need to be a marketer or an editor to use it.

Step 1: Brand DNA from one URL#
You paste in your website during onboarding and Zeely builds your Brand DNA: logo, tagline, tone, colors and fonts. For each product it also pulls the niche, core value, target audience, pain points and purchase triggers.
It got more right than I expected. For Sevenposts it pulled "never miss a daily social post again," which is a tagline straight off my website. For Rambleproof it found the pain point I actually go after, that typing out long thoughts is tedious and slow, and a purchase trigger I care about: people looking for a private alternative to cloud-based voice apps.

Anything it gets wrong, you can fix. I swapped the fonts to Inter and IBM Plex Sans in a couple of clicks. Get this part right before you generate anything, because every ad after it inherits the Brand DNA.
Step 2: Static ads, then variations#
Under Image ads you pick a product, add a product image, and choose a reference ad from Zeely's curated library. It has hundreds of ads that are already running. Then you write a one-line prompt and pick how many variations you want.
I went with five, because the more variations you have to test, the better. You also pick a variation focus: text, visual, audience, style or composition. Each variation costs 25 credits.

The text variations came back with headlines like "Your social content, instantly generated" and "Automate your entire social media content calendar." Two things stood out:
- It picked up my brand colors on its own. The reference ad was dark and purple. Sevenposts is light with a golden hue, and every ad came back in my palette.
- Fixing one section is free. One ad printed the font name "Plus Jakarta Sans" right on the image. I selected that part, deleted it and regenerated just that section at no cost.
For the image model, Nano Banana Pro is the default. Nano Banana 2 is cheaper and faster, and GPT Image 2 gives the highest quality. It's worth testing them against each other. I compared the Nano Banana models more closely in my Nano Banana 2 ad creative test.
When an ad is done, you can launch it through Zeely or download it and upload it to Meta Ads Manager yourself. The image is yours.
Step 3: Competitor Spy for ideas that already work#
Too many variations of the same ad gets boring, so this is where I went for completely different concepts.
Competitor Spy shows you the ads other brands are running right now. You can filter by industry or pick a specific brand. My tip: sort by longest running. A brand doesn't keep paying for an ad that isn't working, so an ad that's been live a long time is the closest thing you'll get to a cheat sheet. One AG1 ad I found had been running for 276 days.

Click Recreate and Zeely rebuilds that concept around your own product. For Rambleproof I pulled up Superwhisper, a direct competitor, and recreated a few of their longest-running formats.
Don't only copy your competitors, though. Some of my best statics came from unrelated industries. A plain sticky note ad from a different niche turned into one of my favorite Rambleproof ads.

A few needed small fixes. One ad showed my speaking speed as the wrong number, so I changed that section to 152 words per minute, which is what my own stats say. Other ads I downloaded as they were.
Step 4: AI UGC video ads#
Videos work the same way. You pick a reference video from the library. For software, the "digital demo" category has people holding up a screen, which is what I wanted. Then you choose an avatar, describe the scene and generate a starting image. I asked for a guy in a cafe talking about Sevenposts, and it put the actual app on his laptop screen.
From the starting image, Zeely writes a hook and a body script from your Brand DNA. I regenerated hooks I didn't like until one clicked. Then you pick:
- The video model. I used Kling 3 Pro because it's much cheaper than Seedance 2 and still looks good. If you've seen my Kling 3.0 commercial build, it's the same model family.
- Voice, captions and a hook headline. Keep the voice on auto or pick one. Captions and the headline can be edited after the video renders, including the highlight color.
A full video ad costs 500 credits.

I made two versions of the cafe video on purpose, one with captions and one without, with a different hook and background. When a concept works, a small variation is exactly what you want to A/B test in Meta. The second one felt more natural, and it was much harder to tell it was AI. I also made a 30-second street interview, a phone demo and an overlay ad.
Not every generation lands. In the street interview, the AI voice said "seven poise" instead of Sevenposts. On a Rambleproof video, the avatar said "fort mapping" when she meant formatting. The fix is to regenerate, switch to a different voice or add your own audio. I left the misses in the video so you can see them.
What Zeely costs#
Here's current pricing from Zeely's pricing page:
| Plan | Price | Credits | Roughly buys you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $29.95/month | 2,500 | About 100 static ads, or 5 full video ads |
| Plus | $49.95/month | 5,000 | About 200 static ads, or 10 full video ads |
| Growth | $79.95/month | 10,000 | About 400 static ads, or 20 full video ads |

On Growth, a full video ad works out to about $4. I used to pay $100 to $500 per video.
One thing to know: Zeely's pricing page says running Facebook and Instagram ads through Zeely involves extra charges of up to 12%. If you'd rather avoid that, download the finished ads and upload them to Meta Ads Manager yourself.
Pros and cons#
What I liked:
- The Brand DNA. It pulls your brand from one URL, so you don't start every ad from a blank script.
- Competitor Spy. Seeing what's been running the longest is the fastest way to find a proven format.
- Multiple products under one brand. Adding Rambleproof as a second product line was quick.
- The static ads. Recreating a trending concept with your own product is quick, and fixing one section is free.
What to watch out for:
- Not every video is usable. Expect mispronounced names and the odd stiff delivery. You'll create some videos that don't work out.
- You still have to test. It gives you volume. It doesn't tell you which ad will win on Meta.
AI videos vs the creators I paid#
At the end of the video I play the AI ads back to back with the three creators I paid $100 per video to promote Sevenposts. The creators did good work. The first one felt authentic but wasn't that gripping. The second had great B-roll, but her ad didn't perform on Meta the way I hoped.
I won't tell you which side won. Watch both and decide which ones you'd run.
My take is that AI isn't replacing real creators. Because each AI video costs so little, you can use it to test hooks, pain points and scripts and find your winning concept cheaply. Then you have two routes. Take the winner into Zeely's Playground with a model like Seedance 2.5 and build a more polished version (I break down what Seedance 2.5 is and how it compares). Or hand the proven concept to a real creator with a much better brief, so your bigger budget goes behind something that already works.
Who Zeely is for#
If you're a small business owner or solo founder with no creative team, and making ads is the part that stops you, this gets you from nothing to a full set of ad creatives faster than anything I've tried. It's also much cheaper than paying per video.
If you insist on non-AI videos, or you already have a creative process that works, you probably don't need it.
For Sevenposts, my bottleneck was never ideas. It was having enough ads to test.
